A 10th Litter "Of Randi's Ushabti" on it's way

English

The 10th litter of "of Randi's Ushabti" will not be an ordinary litter, but a combination that is made for the first time in Belgium. Our champion dam Merry Christmas or Randi's Ushabti is in fact a beautiful Ukrainian black/silver sire who lives in Germany and is born of a white mother and a black father.

Since September 2017, schnauzers of different colors can be crossed in Belgium, with the permission of Sint-Hubertus and the FCI. In this way the gene pool can be significantly enlarged, with less chance of hereditary diseases as a result. If this is done wisely, this also offers enormous opportunities for breed improvement. For the white miniature schnauzers this offers in the first place the possibility to increase their pigmentation, something in which I always had to appeal to foreign bloodlines in the past. But it also gives me the opportunity to hopefully add some new strong qualities to my bloodline.

Now, what can one expect from the combination of this black/silver male with Merry In any case, it can hardly be otherwise that they will be beautiful puppies of good health. But what colour will they have? I mainly expect white and black/silver puppies, but a pepper&salt or a black one is not impossible either. For sure It will be one of the 4 official colors. A black and white spotted harlequin schnauzer is genetically impossible in this context. Last year, Junior Champion Otis Boanergos Flying Dragon already had a successful litter with a white dam of 8 puppies: 2 white females, 3 white males, 2 black/silver females and 1 pepper&salt female.

To be clear, this combination has been approved by the SRSH and the puppies will have an official pedigree on which their unique DNA profile will be listed. And like all litters of "of Randi's Ushabti", both parents underwent an extensive eye exam in advance. We breed only with dogs that are free of CEA, RD, PHT, PHPV, PRA and cataract.

If all goes well, the puppies will be born in early November to leave their nest about 8 weeks later at the beginning of January 2019. Puppies who move abroad will have to stay with us until mid-February so they can be vaccinated against rabies and be in line with the European legislation.

The puppies are born in our home and remain in the middle of our family until their departure. This way we can ensure good socialization in in these first important phases of the life of our dogs. Together with our children we play a lot with our puppies and make them used to all kinds of household appliances such as a vacuum cleaner, washing machine, .... From 4 weeks on they make small trips outside in our garden where they can discover other stimuli and sounds. Later we also take the puppies to take a ride in the car.
